Steve graduated with honors from Wesleyan University and began his career in Chicago as a member of the opening team for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ (LEYE) restaurant Osteria Via Stato. It was here he fell for wine, specifically Italian wine. An opportunity to go to Italy led to a three-month internship with Elisabetta Foradori at Foradori Winery in Trentino, Italy. Upon return to Chicago, Steve became the manager of Enoteca Roma in Wicker Park.
In late 2008, Steve moved to New York to join Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s Del Posto. Additional opportunities spurred moves to Dressler Restaurant in Brooklyn, Ai Fiori in Midtown and Tribeca Grill. In 2012, he worked the harvest at Larkmead Winery in Calistoga, California.
Steve moved back to Chicago in February of 2013 to take on a position at the three-Michelin-starred Alinea, where he crafted exciting pairings to match the kitchen’s innovative cuisine. In late 2014, Steve joined Fermento’s, where he created an extensive wine program with over 600 selections from Italy, the United States and France.
Steve has managed multiple Wine Spectator Grand Award winning lists and just earned his new restaurant a “Best of Excellence Award” in its first year.
With this extensive knowledge combined with passion, Steve creates memorable wine experiences for each of his guests and clients.
